Acheinu’s Yeshivah LeTze’irim: The Next Stage
Mechinah LeYeshivah Gedolah
For nine years, Acheinu’s Yeshivah LeTze’irim has brought graduates of Torani schools in Israel into the yeshivah world. With the upcoming new term, the Yeshivah will inaugurate a new initiative developed by HaRav HaGaon R. Dovid Hofstadter, shlita, Nasi HaYeshivah: Acheinu’s Mechinah LeYeshivah Gedolah, which will serve our students as a vital transition to yeshivah gedolah.
The Yeshivah LeTze’irim was founded by Gedolei Yisrael for students of Torani schools who wanted to go on to yeshivah, but were not ready for Israel’s mainstream yeshivos. Acheinu structured a program geared to their unique needs, but with the same standards and learning program found in any Israeli yeshivah ketanah. In particular, yeshivah regulations were formulated to protect students from the dangers of exposure to inappropriate technology.
The Yeshivah LeTze’irim serves as a gradual, step-by-step transition from elementary school to “real” yeshivah, offering personal contact with a caring, accessible teaching staff. Throughout their years in Acheinu, each student is assigned a mentor-tutor who works with him one-on-one, introducing him to yeshivah-style learning and helping him develop his skills.
Every aspect of the program has been carefully planned and refined – and it works. Year after year, Acheinu graduates have found their place in yeshivos gedolos. The impact of our program has spread beyond the Yeshivah itself, revolutionizing the approach of educational and outreach professionals and institutions.
Years of experience and ongoing contact with our graduates has led the Yeshivah administration to focus on the hardships encountered by some students when they enter yeshivah gedolah. The Israeli yeshivah ketanah is a three-year program. Even under ideal circumstances, the transition to yeshivah gedolah at a young age is not easy. For students like ours, still relatively new to the system, the hardships can be compounded. Baruch Hashem, they have what it takes to succeed – but the time has come for another innovation, to ensure that they maximize their potential in the larger world of the yeshivos gedolos.
In consultation with the Gedolei Yisrael, the solution quickly became apparent: Acheinu’s groundbreaking Mechinah LeYeshivah Gedolah, also known as the new Shiur Dalet (“Fourth Year Program”). The Mechinah will offer the trademark mentoring and support of the Yeshivah LeTze’irim, combined with the high level learning and standards of a traditional yeshivah gedolah. Acheinu is excited about this new opportunity for our students, guaranteed to start yet another revolution in the field of education and outreach.
